By the Moat
Though I saw the girl by the moat,
she kept watching the water.
Yesterday I quarreled with her
but today I sort of miss her.
I smiled sweetly at her,
but she kept watching the water,
putting on a show of ignorance.
I couldn't stop the smiling (in a) [⇒of the] moment
nor a shedding of tears,
then abruptly I, like a hundred (of削除) bricks,
dashed (out削除) away so violently
that the pebbles at my feet were stripe-patterned.

After a Quarrel
Now I'm alone,
only one
left (lonely) [⇒alone] on the straw mat.
I have nothing to do with the matter;
She was the first to have done something wrong;
All the same, still I feel lonesome.
Now my doll as well
is left alone;
The doll in my arms
makes me all the more lonesome.
Apricot flowers scatteringly drop
on the mat left (lonely) [⇒alone].

Calves
"One, two, three," (reckoned we all) [⇒we all reckoned]
the number of [cars of挿入] a passing train at the crossing;
We kept counting, "five, six, seven;"
Look! )On) [⇒Aboard] the eighth car we saw calves (aboard削除).
I wondered where they were, (after sale) [⇒after being sold],
to
be
taken.
They were but calves.
At the railway crossing in the cold windy evening
we all saw the freight train off.
I wondered how they were to be rocked to sleep at night;
They were motherless.
Now I wonder where they are to be taken;
I('m削除) seriously worried about where they are to be taken.

Stumbling
does not matter;
to err is human.
[It's ok to stumble, isn't it
we are humans after all]
If possible,
stay free of
falsehood.
The worries of life
are endless
because we exist.
"Well done!" should be attributed
to unseen help from Heaven;
"Badly done!"
to an ill life, an ill end.
